The building, which was constructed in 2004, houses the neurology and neuroradiology clinics as well as one of the largest neurosurgery clinics in northern Germany.<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Neurosurgery at the Kiel Campus performs over 2,000 operations a year and treats around 2,500 inpatients and over 4,000 outpatients. In order to maintain the functionality of the clinic&#8217;s operations in the future, the large glass facades on both long sides of the building are now due for refurbishment. The contract was awarded to CONSENS Bautechnik GmbH. A new glass composite panel material is used, which can meet the high fire protection requirements of a hospital building in particular and can reproduce the appearance of the existing facade, which is in need of refurbishment, in almost the same way.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Neurocenter on the UKSH Campus Kiel is visible from afar with its striking landing platform for rescue helicopters on the roof.
