A new demagnetization treatment facility is being built in the Kiel Fjord on a unique construction site. In future, ships will be magnetically measured and treated here in order to make them “invisible” to sea mines with magnetic fuses and thus protect them. <\/p>\n
In addition to the actual surveying and treatment plant, the overall project includes other different types of structures, both above and in the water. These include various buildings on land that are used to operate and service the plant. In order to rule out interference from magnetic influences during subsequent operation, only non-magnetic materials are used for the new construction of the plant. <\/p>\n
One new building and several existing buildings will have a facade clad with clay tiles. CONSENS Bautechnik GmbH is responsible for the execution. Around 1,000 m\u00b2 of facade will be clad with large-format clay tiles in the color Sahara yellow. <\/p>\n
Completion and commissioning of the plant, which is estimated to cost around EUR 63 million in total, is planned for the end of 2021.<\/p>\n
