Bremerhaven: School refurbishment with specially insulated VHF solution

The comprehensive energy-efficient facade renovation of the school at Leher Markt in Bremerhaven is being carried out by Consens. In order to achieve outstanding insulating properties for the entire facade cladding, the selected blue fibre cement panels are mounted on a thermally bridge-optimized stainless steel-aluminium combination substructure. With the highly insulating mineral fiber panels placed behind the cladding, a passive house standard will ultimately be achieved in terms of energy efficiency. The work will be carried out without disrupting school operations. Noise-intensive work will be carried out in consultation with the school management during the vacations or at times of day when there are no lessons.

New external sun protection systems, concealed behind the new facade cladding in the form of external venetian blinds, provide thermal insulation in summer to keep the rooms cool and ensure that the classrooms can be used without glare.

Together with the already completed replacement of the windows and the installation of a new district heating system, the school building will be the first almost CO2-neutral school in Bremerhaven once the renovation work is complete.
