Consens has been awarded the major contract to carry out the facade work on the new fire station in Berlin-Hohenschönhausen. For the facade cladding, the majority of the 120 mm-thick prefabricated exposed concrete elements are made of through-dyed concrete in a reddish color, which are combined with aluminum composite panels in the special color RAL 8019 in some areas of the three-story building.

The facades are mounted on a thermal bridge-optimized substructure as a VHF construction and thermally insulated with 180 mm thick mineral fibre thermal insulation behind the precast concrete elements and behind the aluminium composite panels. Some areas of the facade, where the large-format precast concrete elements are to be used as suspended ceiling cladding, present a particular challenge.

The fire station comprises a vehicle hall for 9 emergency vehicles as well as social, office and storage rooms, designed for a workforce of 140 employees.

Consens will be carrying out the facade work from March 2023. Until then, we will carry out preparatory work such as structural analysis, work and installation planning and material planning. The construction of a sample facade on site is already planned for January 2023.
