New hospital building with VHF solution in passive house quality

Kiel Municipal Hospital (SKK) is investing 122 million euros in a new six-storey building on Hasseldieksdammer Weg in Kiel. Construction of the new hospital building started in 2021. After extensive demolition of the existing buildings, a complete replacement building is now being erected in reinforced concrete construction, which will be clad with large-format, light-colored fiber cement and fitted with a VCW with integrated mineral fiber insulation. The new building will be constructed to passive house standard, to which the VCW will contribute. CONSENS Bautechnik will be installing the fibre cement facades on this new building from January 2024 and equipping them with a thermal bridge-optimized substructure and 200 mm thick mineral fibre insulation. Once the new building is completed, the other existing SKK buildings will be refurbished and also fitted with VHF – then as a refurbishment solution.
