We are delighted that our project “Bahnhofsmission Hauptbahnhof Hamburg” has been nominated for the German Facade Award 2024 in the “Modular Building” category!
In this project, Consens Bautechnik GmbH successfully implemented the facade work on a modular timber frame construction. The striking facade design was created by the renowned Hamburg architect Carsten Roth and features a green-colored 6WL stainless steel facade and a wood-look HPL facade.
The stainless steel facade is particularly impressive, with a color scheme that changes from yellow to blue to green depending on the incidence of light and viewing angle. The facade elements were visibly riveted and attached to an aluminum/stainless steel substructure. The new building is in a central but logistically challenging location between Glockengießerwall and the parking lot in Ernst-Merck-Straße. In the coming years, it will serve as a temporary building for the station mission before it may have to make way for the new subway line 5, which will run directly underneath the building.
The facade design of this project is something very special, and as facade builders we hope that the construction work on subway line 5 will take a little longer so that this extraordinary facade can be preserved for longer.
The award ceremony will take place on October 24 in Frankfurt, and we are excited to see whether this project can prevail in its category.
